Max Harris 1912 - 2008 Max Harris was born on May 9, 1912, the son of Fred E. and Allie (Alexander) Harris in Minnesota. He was raised and educated in Minnesota and North Dakota. He enlisted into the United States Army on January 17, 1945, at Fort Snelling, MN. Max received the Good conduct medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, before he was honorably discharged on January 16, 1946. Max worked various jobs as a carpenter throughout the greater Minot area. He enjoyed restoring Model-T automobiles, many times from the ground; he also enjoyed working with antique clocks and player pianos. He was an avid supporter of the Historical Society located at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds, serving as the caretaker for many years. He was also an avid gardener. Max will be missed by all that knew him. Those who shared in his life: Children: William (Rosanna) Harris, Denver, CO, Robert (Jeanne) Harris, New Town, ND, Donald (Kathy) Harris,, NC, Jerry (Marilyn) Harris, Prescott, AZ, Sheila Harris, Des Lacs, ND, Cindy Bergstrom, MN; Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Max was preceded in death by his parents, children Maxine, Gloria, Terry, Sisters Effie, Dorothy, Elsie, Mabel, brother Ralph and George.
