Lee Allen Hanson 1950 - 2002

Lee was born July 25, 1950, in Bottineau, ND, the son of Leonard K. Hanson and Alyce (Atherton) Selfors. They moved to Minot in 1959, where Lee attended school. He entered the United States Army on October 25, 1968 and served two tours in Vietnam. He later was stationed in Germany before his Honorable Discharge on November 7, 1974. While in the Army he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Bronze Star Medal and two Overseas Bars.

He was once married to Sara Belisle in 1970 and later Becky Hendrickson in 1984.

Lee's employment included various road construction positions in North Dakota and Florida, he worked as a truck driver, a security guard and also worked with his father at Hanson Motors in Turtle Lake. He was a life-time member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed spending time with his children, and also with his nieces and nephews, and they all loved "Uncle Lee."

Survivors: Daughters, Carrie (Craig) Brasfield, Alexandria, LA, and Addy Hanson, Tioga; son, Kyle Hanson, Tioga; one grandson, Barron Brasfield, Alexandria, LA; mother and step-father, Alyce and Ted Selfors, Minot; brothers and sisters, Lynda (Chris) Ja'Nice, Great Falls, MT, Connie Smith, Minot, Ron (Lori) Hanson, Rice Lake, Jim (Audrey) Hanson, Westminster, CO, Jeannie (Larry) Dodd, Rapid City, SD; half-brothers, Kent Berkley, Minot, Dennis Hanson, Tucson, AZ, Darvin and Rodger Hanson, both Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Gary Hanson of Coeur d' Alene, ID; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive; his two companions, his dog, Shadow Bear, and cat, Rex; He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard K. Hanson, and a sister, Sallie Ann Hanson.

Funeral: Thursday, March 28, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Wednesday from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Thursday at 6:00 p.m., at Rendahl Cemetery, rural Dunseith, ND.
