Juanita J. Hanson 1938 - 2002

Juanita J. Hanson, 64, 5901 13th Ave, N. Granville, ND, died Thursday, August 22, 2002, in her home following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born of March 4, 1938, in Egg Creek Township, rural Granville, ND, to Edwin and Elizabeth (Hurley) Olson. She was raised and educated in the Granville area and graduated from Granville High School in 1956. She began working as a bookkeeper for Krebsbach's Inc. in Minot. At the same time, she attended Minot State Business College. She married Doran K. Hanson on June 1, 1958. They lived and raised their family in Granville. Juanita had a daycare in her home for a time and worked at the Granville School as a secretary. She also worked at Aasen Landscaping and most recently at Magic City Lumber retiring in 2000 due to poor health.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Granville, where she served as treasurer and board member and was also a member of the WELCA of the church. She was an avid square and round dancer, and was a member of the ND Square and Round Dance Clubs, where she served as state secretary from 1978-1979, and state treasurer from 1995-1996 and 1998-1999. She also belonged to the Souris Valley Dancer Square Dance Club. She was a former Egg Creek 4-H leader and was a member of the Alfalfameade Homemakers Club. She was a member of the Granville Cemetery Association and served as secretary/treasurer for many years.

Juanita touched so many lives with her kind spirit and endless generosity. She will not only live on through her children and grandchildren, but also in the hearts and memories of all who loved her.

She shared her secret to happiness with her children: Knowing that there is little you can do in life to truly make yourself happy, you must depend on God to supply according to His riches. Most of the time, you will find that you don't need half of what you think you do and Juanita found her most precious riches in her deep faith with God and the love she gave and received from her family and friends. She will be truly missed.
