Irene A. Hanson, 51, Minot, died peacefully Tuesday, October 23, 2007 in a Minot hospital.

Irene was born on September 23, 1956, the daughter of Chester and Inez (Scheie) Hanson in Kenmare, ND. She was reared and educated in Minot, attending Minot Public Schools.

In 1975 she entered the Minot Vocational Area Workshop (MVAW). She worked at the Minot Air Force Base Post Office and was the voice of the base locator for a number of years. Most recently she worked in the MVAW Laundry.

Irene was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. She served as a delegate to the governor's council for the handicapped. Irene was an avid fan of all-star wrestling, and was a cat and dog lover. She was a quiet person, a loyal friend, and was always interested in other's lives. She would never forget details about her friends' families. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Surviving relatives: Numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and a good friend, Janet Fredrickson, Minot.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents and infant siblings.

Visitation: Sunday, October 28, 2007 from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Monday, October 29, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot

Officiant: Rev. Janet Hernes-Mathistad
