Florence Hanson 1920 - 2010 Florence Hoyt was born November 6, 1920, in Park River, ND, a daughter to Fred and Mabel (Edwards) Hoyt. She was raised and educated in several towns in North Dakota and Minnesota. On October 25, 1939 she married Hollis N. Hanson in Roseau, MN. They lived, worked and raised their families in several cities in North Dakota. In 1976, while living in Ryder, ND, her husband passed away. Following his death Florence moved to Minot. Florence worked for two years as a housekeeper at the Parker Hotel in Minot, and the next 17 plus years she worked there as a volunteer , serving in the kitchen for the senior’s dinners. She earned numerous awards for her volunteer work over the years. She attended Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church in Minot. She enjoyed watching television, reading, traveling, she loved birds, and loved to drive her car named “Jenny.” Florence was always there for her family and was a very caring person. She enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren and attended all of their school programs. Those who shared in her life, daughters, Delores Walhood, Minot, ND, Betty (Dave) Trierwieler, Minneapolis, MN, Jane Crisante, Franklin, NC and Esther “Essy” (Miles) Parizek, Minot; sons, Harold (Jill) Hanson, Kissimmee, FL, Glenn Hanson, Minot, Ralph (Alice) Hanson, Ruthville, ND, Larry (Lynette Deaver) Hanson, Minot, and Stanley Hanson, Dickinson, ND. 35 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Olive Skapple of Colorado, and Violet (Orris “Pete”) Peterson, Minot; brother, Ray Hoyt, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis, son, David Hanson; parents, Fred Hoyt and Mabel Hoyt Hanson; sister, Myrtle Debowey and brother, Ora Hoyt. Funeral: Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Vincent United Methodist Church, 1024 2nd St. SE, Minot, ND. Visitation: Sunday, January 17, 2010, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. Officiant Music Congregational Hymns Honorary Bearers Active Bearers Burial Those attending the graveside service are asked to drive with both headlights and hazard lights on following the car in front as close as safety permits. Use caution when crossing intersections. At the cemetery please double park, then follow the family graveside for the final prayers. Everyone is invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church fellowship hall. Those not attending the graveside service may begin the luncheon and the family will join you when they return from the cemetery. Our family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated, and will never be forgotten.
