Doris May Hanson 1922 - 2011 Doris was born the daughter of Alvin and Caroline (Watson) Jackson on May 2, 1922 in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1941. She married Orville Hanson on January 14, 1945. The couple moved to a farm near Carpio, ND and returned to Minot in 1952. Doris worked for Super Value for several years. In 1964, she became manager of the Holland House Cafeteria, which was part of the Newberry Company. She received several Manager of the Month awards from the Newberry Company. In the 1970’s, the Newberry Company was sold to the McCrory Corporation. In 1974, she was named Manager of the Year for the McCrory Corporation, still managing the Holland House Cafeteria. In 1975, she became manager of the newly formed Country Lanes Restaurant (formerly the Holland House). She managed Country Lanes until 1982. Doris received many award from the Occupational Food Service of Minot High School. She most recently worked for the Minot Commission on Aging, retiring in 2001. Doris was an active member of the United Congregational Church of Christ in Minot. She was a member of the Women’s Fellowship, sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School, belonged the the Evening Circle and served as a Deaconess. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Doris was a “best friend” to many in her northwest Minot neighborhood. Funeral: Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot. Visitation: Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
