Clifford J. Hanson 1928 - 2003
Clifford was born August 28, 1928, in Velva, ND, the son of Joseph and Cora (Bredeson) Hanson. He attended school in Colgen, Kongsberg, and finished his education in Bergen, ND. While growing up he helped his parents with the farming operation. He worked four years for Noels Construction before moving to California. He worked for Convair Aircraft until he entered the Army. He served two years in the Army, including ten months in Korea. After his military service he returned to Minot and worked for Frosaker Chevrolet. He then worked five years for Peter Kiewit Construction on the construction of the Minot Air Force Base. He began employment with Portal Pipeline in 1961 and worked there until his retirement in 1990. He was once married to Doramae Rish, they divorced in 1975. He married Eileen (Joern) Baker in October of 1985. They made their home in Minot. Clifford was a life-time member of the Velva American Legion, and a member of the Minot Moose Lodge for 27 years. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles Aerie and Elks Lodge, all Minot. Clifford enjoyed playing pool at every opportunity. He attended the Friday night pool league at the Moose Lodge, and played as many nights as he could as his health allowed. He also liked to play cards with his family and friends, which he did as long as his health allowed. He was also a member of the Souris Valley Repeater Association. Survivors: Wife, Eileen, Minot; sons, Clifford L. Hanson, Minot, Gerry (Denise) Hanson, Grand Island, NE, and Kenny (Linda) Hanson, Minot; stepchildren, Travis Beam, Bristol, PA, Stacey Moore, Lansdale, PA, and Frances (Chris) Blackman, Alexandria, LA; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral: Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Tuesday, April 8, 2003, from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., at the Velva Community
