Alfred Leroy Hanson 1920 - 2004

Alfred Leroy Hanson, 84, Minot, formerly of Berthold, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004, in a Minot nursing home.

He was born October 29, 1920, in Carpio, ND, the son of Thorvald and Catherine (Amrein) Hanson. He was reared and educated in Kirklie Township. Alfred entered the United States Army on October 16, 1942, and served in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged on February 10, 1946.

He married Alta Hunter on August 31, 1946, in Minot, ND. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in Des Lacs Township, Ward County. Alfred also worked for many years at Minot Sand and Gravel and later Atlas Ready Mix both Minot.

Survivors: sons, Alfred Jr. (Lynn) Hanson, Minot, Keith (Geri) Hanson, Berthold, Ronald (Kari) Hanson, St. George, UT, and Bruce (Christine) Hanson, Great Falls, MT; daughters, Teresa (Donald) Erie, Mohall, ND, Catherine Hellweg, Minneapolis, MN, Betty (Harry) Bergstad, Voltaire, ND, and Carol (Art) Yri, Plano, TX; 16 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; sisters, Irene (John) Miller, Seattle, WA, and Laverne Haugen, Des Lacs, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta, daughter, Pamela Hanson, parents, Thorvald and Catherine, brothers, Roy, Clifford, and Thorvald Jr. Hanson.

Funeral Service: Friday, December 3, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Visitation: Thursday, December 2, 2004, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
