Pearl M. Hansen 1925 - 2009 Pearl was born April 5, 1925 in Kenmare, ND a daughter to Sophus and Clara Schmelling. Her mother died while giving birth and she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Eleanor and Miles Sheets. She graduated from Kenmare High School in 1943. On December 31, 1943 Pearl married Wallace Hansen in Plentywood, MT. They lived and farmed on the Hansen family farm near Bowbells, ND, until 1957 when they moved to Kenmare. Pearl worked at Kenmare Steam Laundry and the Kenmare Baptist Home. She retired from the Baptist Home in 1995 Her husband Wallace passed away on January 8, 2000. Pearl was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare. She enjoyed baking pies and homemade bread. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Those who shared in her life, son, Darrell (Lori) Hansen, Bismarck, ND; four grandchildren, Kristie (Steve) Root, Glenburn, Cathy Ough and fiancée, Johann Trana, Surrey, Eric Hansen and his special friend, Evony Dockter, Harvey, ND and Nichole Hansen, Tacoma, WA; ten great-grandchildren, Micheal, Marcus, Tyler, Ciara, Hanna, Brandon, Derek, Cody, Jayden and Haylee; half sisters, Dorothy Kruse, Minot, ND and Sharon Wylie, Miami, Fl; half brother, Kenneth Schmelling, Minot; several nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; daughters, Pam and Darlene; her parents, Sophus and Clara Schmelling; aunt and uncle, Miles and Eleanor Sheets and Billy Sheets. Funeral: Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare and Wednesday one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND in the spring. Officiating Clergy: Rev.
