Phyllis Hansen 1922 - 2002

Phyllis Hansen, 80, 1900 28th St, SW, Minot, died Monday, December 9, 2002, in a Minot medical facility.

She was born on May 4, 1922, in Towner, ND, the daughter of Kasmer and Magdalena (Lemer) Wald. She moved with her family from Towner to Karlsruhe, ND. She attended school in Karlsruhe and graduated from Karlsruhe High School. She married Raymond S. Hansen on November 26, 1942 in Sidney, MT. The couple lived in Cartwright, Aurelia, and Norma, ND, where they lived and raised their family. Phyllis was active in the church and civic organizations in her spare time. She loved to raise flowers, keep her yard, and create different crafts for her family and friends. They moved from Norma to Burlington, ND, in 1977, following her husband's retirement. They continued to live in Burlington until the death of her husband on January 15, 2000. In 2001, she moved to Somerset Court in Minot, where she had since lived. She enjoyed the many friends and activities that took place at Somerset Court, and loved the social conversation.

She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Minot. She was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, both of Minot, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Mohall for a time.

Survivors: Son, Ronald Hansen and his wife Donna, Minot; three grandchildren, Scott Hansen and his wife Joyce, Mountain, ND, Tim Hansen and his wife Fran, Chandler, AZ, and Rochelle Hager, Minot; seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Justin, Jeremy, Celeste and Anthony Hansen, Lecia and Austin Hager; one sister, Mary Belgarde and husband Verlin, Billings, MT; two brothers, Albert Wald and his wife Dianna, Yuma, AZ, and Frank Wald and his wife Estee, Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law, Anita Hopkins, Garrison, ND; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Her husband, parents, and one brother, Michael Wald preceded her in death.
