Lynn M. Hance 1927 - 2006

Lynn M. Hance, 78, Minot, formerly of Deering, ND, died Sunday, February 5, 2006, in his winter home in Apache Junction, AZ.

He was born on April 20, 1927, on the family farm in Grilley Township, McHenry County, ND, the son of E.L. "Pat" and Florence (Hall) Hance. He was educated in Deering and the Grilley Township Consolidated School.

Lynn lived and farmed on the family farmstead for over seventy years; fifty of those years were spent farming with his twin brother, Glenn.

He married Clarice A. Steen on March 2, 1953, at Sydney, MT. The couple lived on the family farm until moving to Minot in 2000. Lynn was a typical Irishman, he loved to dance, tell stories and meet new people. Lynn and Clarice loved to travel. The couple traveled all over the United States, Canada, and Alaska.

Lynn was an active member of the Deering Lutheran Church, and the Moose Lodge in Minot. He served on the Deering Lutheran Church Board, the Glenburn Fire Department, the Grilley Township Board for 24 years, the Deering Elevator Board, McHenry County ASC Community Committee and the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery Board. Lynn and Clarice were also active with the Northwest Polkateers in Minot.

Survivors; wife of 52 years, Clarice, Minot; children, Lynette (Jeff) Restemayer, Cavalier, ND, James (Linda) Hance, Grand Forks, ND, Beverly (Danny) Dougan, Scenic, SD, and Judy (Steve) Doeden, Cummings, ND; grandchildren, John Restemayer, Randy and Tom Doeden, Melanie, Jason, and Melissa Dougan, Mitch (Kathy), Brian, Julie, Bruce (Christy) and Chuck (Mona) Steinkuehler, great-grandchildren, Joshua, Rosa (Carlos), Luke, Chantal, Mathew, Nick, Brandon, and Rachel; great-great-grandson, Rudy; sisters, Eva Hansen, Deering, Dorothy Steffen, Minot, and Faye Zurcher, Minot; brothers, Wilford Hance, Minot and twin brother, Glenn (Eileen) Hance, Minot. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Colleen, his parents, E.L. "Pat" and Florence, sisters, Geneva and Edna and brother, Robert.

Funeral Service: Saturday, February 11, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Friday, February 10, 2006, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
