Myrtle C. Hammer 1903 - 2008 Myrtle was born on December 17, 1903, a daughter of Les and Clara (Hoff) Alspach in Devils Lake, ND. The family moved to Ray, ND where Myrtle attended grade school and graduated from Ray High School. She furthered her education, attending Minot State Teachers College for two summers. In April of 1938, she was united in marriage to Edward Hammer in Velva, ND. They made their home on the farm in Velva, where Myrtle raised their children. Myrtle was a member of the Oak Valley Lutheran Church, as well as the ladies circle, a charter member of the Star Senior Citizens, a member of the Rebekah lodge, American Legion Auxiliary all of Velva. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, playing bridge, and was a self taught mandolin player. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother and will be missed by all that knew her. Those who shared in her life: Children Larry (Mary

nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Visitation: Monday, November 17, 2008 from 3-6 at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Velva Funeral Service: Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 11 am at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva Burial: 2 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot Music Honorary Bearers: Myrtle's family and friends Active Bearers: Gregory Haga, Dean Hammer, Brad Kupser, Ross Munns, Kevin King Caleb Dahl Immediately following the funeral service there will be lunch and fellowship in the fellowship hall of the church. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the Sunset Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. for final prayers. The Hammer family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
