Arliene Hamilton Hystad 1938- 2009 Arliene Mary Ellen Armstrong was born March 31, 1938 in Rolette, ND to Thomas and Ida Belle (Armstrong) Armstrong. She was raised near Rolette on the family farm and attended Union School from the first through the eighth grade. She graduated from Rolette High School in 1956. Following graduation she moved to Hollister, CA, where she was employed as a telephone operator until July of 1957 when she moved to Minot. On April 18, 1959, Arliene married David Hamilton. They made their home in Minot and she worked as an operator and supervisor for Bell Telephone Company from 1958 to 1977. She later worked for H & R Block, Valker Floral and she owned Snak Pak Vending from 1986 to 1995. David passed away on September 12, 1981. On April 19, 1983 she married Milner Hystad and was blessed with the extended Hystad family. He passed away on March 17, 1992. Arliene loved her family and was a full-time grandma. She loved to bowl and bowled on a league for many years and she loved camping. She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot. Those who shared in her life, sons, Daniel (Karla) Hamilton and Russell (Karen) Hamilton; daughter, Denise (Kevin) Bechtold, all of Minot; stepchildren, Michaela (Don) Wible, Velva, ND, Milner Jr. (Cindy) Hystad, Apple Valley, MN, Marina Sauvageau, Las Vegas, NV, and Maria (Blaine) Mack, Minot; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister, Pat O’Keeffe of California and several nieces and nephews. Arliene was preceded in death by her husbands, David Hamilton and Milner Hystad, and her parents, Thomas and Ida Belle Armstrong. Funeral: Friday, October 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Thursday, October 1, 2009, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Danica Hamilton Fund in c/o Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church, 1700 16th Ave. SE, Minot, ND 58703. Danica is Arliene’s great-granddaughter, who has special needs.
