Kenneth E. Hamel • 1932 - 2003 Kenneth E. Hamel, 71, Upham, died Wednesday, November 26, 2003, in a Minot medical center. Kenneth was born January 12, 1932, at Eckman, ND, the son of Edmund and Ellen (Luddington) Hamel. He grew up in the Eckman - Maxbass area and moved to Upham in 1967. He married Donna Brandt on June 28, 1952 in Bottineau, ND. Kenneth went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad as a laborer and retired in 1994 after 43 years. Following his retirement he did maintenance for the City of Upham until July of 2003. Kenneth enjoyed doing lawn work, especially raking. Kenneth liked drinking coffee and he was an avid pool player. Survivors: Wife, Donna, Upham; children, Bob (Lyn) Hamel, Fargo, ND, Kathy Brandt, Upham, Jeff (Charlyn) Hamel, Towner, ND, Randy Hamel, Upham, and Lori (Greg) Nelson, Upham; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Louis (Theresa) Hamel, Gene (Bev) Hamel, Larry (Judy) Hamel, and Junior Hamel; sisters, Betty Teigen, Barbara (Marvin) Streich, and Elaine (Everett) Larson; brothers-in-law, Merlin (Marietta) Brandt, and Milo Brandt; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sons, and granddaughter, Danielle Radke. Memorial Service: Monday, December 1, 2003, at 2:00 pm at English Lutheran Church, Maxbass. Visitation: There will be no reviewal but friends may sign the register on Sunday, November 30, 2003, from 2:00 until 6:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
