Donna M. Hamel 1936 - 2009 Donna Mae Brandt was born December 6, 1936, in Bottineau, ND to Willard and Elvera (Ruppert) Brandt. She was raised and educated in the Bantry and Maxbass areas. Donna married Kenneth E. Hamel on June 28, 1952 in Bottineau, ND. Following their marriage they lived in Maxbass, ND, until 1967, when they moved to Upham. Once her children were of school age, Donna worked several different jobs, including working at the bar and café in Upham. She later worked at the nursery, lumber yard and 19 years at Gunter's Honey, all in Towner, until her retirement. Donna loved taking care of her family and she loved working in her garden. She also enjoyed her dog, Rowdy. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be deeply missed. Those who shared in her life, children, Bob (Lyn) Hamel, Fargo, ND, Kathy Brandt, Rugby, ND, Jeff (Charlyn) Hamel, Towner, Randy Hamel, Upham, and Lori (Greg) Nelson, Upham; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Merlin (Marietta) Brandt, and Milo Brandt; brothers-in-law, Louis (Theresa) Hamel, Gene Hamel, Larry (Judy) Hamel, and Junior Hamel; sisters-in-law, Betty Teigen, Barbara (Marvin) Streich, and Elaine Larson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; four sons; granddaughter, Danielle Radke; and her parents. Memorial Service: Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at English Lutheran Church, Maxbass, ND. Visitation and prayer service: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the guest register, Wednesday, July 1, 2009, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
