Mary A. Hambek • 1940- 2011

Mary A. Hambek, 71, Minot, formerly of Renton, WA, died Friday, January 13, 2012 in a Minot nursing home.

Mary Ann Hambek, the namesake of her grandmothers, was born on June 14, 1940, a daughter of Lynn J. and Leona H. (White) Hambek, in Minot, ND. Mary was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Minot and attended Eureka School of Ward County. In 1958, she graduated from Minot High School. 

Mary worked for Jordahl Animal Hospital of Minot for several years. In the early 1960’s, she moved to Renton, WA. She retired from Boeing Company after more than 30 years of service.

She enjoyed traveling, which included annual trips to North Dakota for over forty years to spend time with her family, whom adored her. Mary was a lifetime member of WFLA Bohemian Lodge #188.

She will be truly missed and remembered a s a kind, gentle and compassionate person who gave generously to less fortunate family and friends.

Mary is survived by:
                Siblings: John (Ann) Hambek, Minot; Jacquelyn Smith, Minot; and Judith Millhom, Dillon, MT; sister-in-law Sally Hambek, Minot, brother-in-law Gerald Borud,  Minot, twenty one nieces and nephews as well a special friend Herb Breese, Federal Way, WA.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sister LuVerne Borud, brother Donald J. Hambek and brother-in-law Don Smith.

Visitation: Monday, January 16, 2012 from 2-7 at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service:  Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 1 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Burial:  Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
