Doris Haman 1925 - 2003

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Towner, for Doris A. Haman of Minot, formerly of Towner. Doris, 78, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, in a Minot nursing home. Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 5:00 p.m., with a vigil prayer service Sunday, June 15, 2003, at 7:30 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Doris Haman was born in Upham, ND, on January 7, 1925, to Jorgen (Jim) and Anna Vatsvog. She graduated from Upham High School where she excelled scholastically and enjoyed music and basketball. Doris attended Minot Business College and then started a new job at the McHenry County Courthouse. On October 10, 1944, Doris married John M. Haman at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Towner, ND. After their wedding, she taught at the Fulda Country School. Doris and Johnnie raised nine children. She involved herself in the many different businesses that they owned over their 49 years of marriage. Doris enjoyed playing the piano, writing poetry, and tending to her award-winning flower gardens. She was also very active in the Confraternity of Christian Mothers at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Because of her deep faith, her Godchildren were special. Above all, Doris took great pride in her family.

Doris is survived by her children Jay (Cassandra) Haman, Kerrville, TX; Shari (Brian) Olson, Minot; Lisa (Tom) Wilson, Minot; John (Annette) Haman, Parker, CO; Sandra Haman, Bismarck; Debbie (Ken) Schmidt, Minot; Theresa Haman, Minot; Monica (Jim) Hoynes, Bismarck; Jerome (Mary Ann) Haman, Kent, WA. She has 24 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband Johnnie; parents Jorgen (Jim) and Anna Vatsvog; sisters Angeline Kitzman, Henrietta Mickelson, Myrtle, Dorothy, and Viola Vatsvog; half-sisters Louise Braaten, Esther Orchard, Ann Johnson, and Clair Lilly; half-brothers Jack and Morris Vatsvog.
