Grace E. Haley 1927 - 2003

Grace E. Haley, 76, Portal, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003 in a Minot hospital.

She was born April 12, 1927, in Washington, D.C., to Burton Wilmar and Rose Marie Heath. She was reared and educated in Washington, D.C. and also worked as a waitress in that area. While living in D.C., she was preceded in death by husbands Mr. Bradford and Mr. “Ski” Topolski. She was also married to Richard A. Johnson and they later divorced.

In 1966, she moved to Columbus, ND and in 1972, to Portal. She worked at some of the local hotels and cafés in Portal. In the early 1980’s, she married Andrew Haley. Grace and Andrew enjoyed traveling throughout the years. She was a member of the Lignite and Portal Senior Citizens.

Survivors: husband, Andrew Haley, Portal; sons, Norman Bradford, Somerset, Kentucky, Lionel Bradford, Warrenton, VA, Henry Topolski, Portal, Albert Topolski, Williston, Joe Topolski, Fargo and Richard Johnson, Kenmare; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, Mr. Bradford and “Ski” Topolski; sons, Burton and Thomas Topolski; daughter, Rose Haaland; her parents and brother Arthur Wilmar Heath.

Funeral: Monday, 10:00 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Visitation: Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Makoti.
