Andrew "Andy" Haberlock Jr. 1928 - 2006


Andrew "Andy" Haberlock Jr., 77, 3120 7TH St SW, Minot, died Thursday, July 6, 2006, in a Minot hospital.

Andy was born on October 25, 1928, in Karlsruhe, ND, the son of Andrew Sr. and Lena (Walter) Haberlock. He was reared and educated in the Karlsruhe area and at the age of 16 went to work for the Great Northern Railroad.

Andy entered the United States Army on May 22, 1952, and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on May 6, 1954. After his discharge, he returned to North Dakota and continued his employment at the Great Northern Railroad.

He married Hazel Anderson on August 11, 1972, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva, ND. The couple made their home in Minot. Andy and Hazel enjoyed traveling which included a trip to New York and many trips to Minneapolis to visit relatives. Andy retired from the railroad after 33 years of employment due to ill health.

Andy was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion all of Minot.

Survivors: wife, Hazel, Minot; step-daughters, Janet (Tom) Fiedler, Austin, TX, and Bonnie (Steve) Hively, Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Dorothy) Haberlock, Minot, and Joseph (Joanne) Haberlock, Vancouver, WA; sister, Rose Smith, Minot; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, July 10, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Visitation: Sunday, July 9, 2006, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Prayer Service: Sunday, July 9, 2006, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
