Helen Haberlack 1915- 2006

Helen Haberlack, 91, 305 8th Ave. NE, Minot, ND, formerly of Karlsruhe, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Trinity Homes, Minot.

Helen Ebach was born on June 8, 1915, the daughter of Paul and Frances (Kurtz) Ebach in Balta, ND. She was raised in Balta, and attended Balta School.

Helen was united in marriage to Wendelin Haberlack on September 28, 1936, in Balta, ND. Following their marriage, they purchased a farm located in McHenry County, rural Karlsruhe, ND. She was a devoted, hardworking housewife and mother. They continued to reside on the farm until moving to Minot in October of 1964. In 1964, she began employment with the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store and worked there for eight years. Wendelin passed away on November 20, 1990. In 1992, she moved into the Milton Young Towers in Minot. In March of 1999, Helen became a resident at Trinity Homes.

She was a former member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot, and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was currently a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Minot Moose Lodge.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, bingo, and spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She was a devoted Catholic her entire life.

Surviving family includes: children, Rose Ziegler, Minot, Jim (Karen) Haberlack, Minot, Paul (Elaine) Haberlack, Minot, David (Kathy) Haberlack, Minot, and Sue (Bill) Petasek, DePere, WI; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Hager, Williston, ND, Catherine Schwan, Sacramento, CA, and Lena (Pius) Schwan, Sacramento, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendelin; infant daughter, Mary; sons-in-law, Marty Ziegler and Steve McCormick; brothers, Tony, Joe, Paul, John, and Linus Ebach; sisters, Walburga Ripplinger and Mary Lemer.

Funeral: Monday, July 31, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Rosary/Vigil Prayer Service: Sunday at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
