Kermit "Bobby" Martin Gullickson 1925 - 2004

Kermit Gullickson PhotoKermit "Bobby" Martin Gullickson, 78, Ruso, ND, died Monday, June 21, 2004, in a Minot nursing home.

Kermit was born November 19, 1925, son of Thorwald and Mabel (Erickson) Gullickson in Andrews Township, McLean County. When he was a young boy his parents moved to the coal mines in the Sawyer area, where he grew up and attended school.

Kermit entered the US Army in 1944 and was honorably discharged a veteran of WWII on June 19, 1946.

On October 26, 1952, he married Carolyn Lydia Krueger at Peace Lutheran Church in Max. After their marriage they lived in Minot where Kermit worked construction. In 1959 they moved to a farm east of Benedict where they lived until 1971, when they purchased a farm a ½ mile further south. They established a farming and dairy cow operation, which their son Richard has since taken over. He also worked for a time with the McLean County Highway Department. Carolyn passed away quietly and peacefully in her home on Monday, May 26, 2003.

He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, and the American Legion of Benedict. Kermit enjoyed farming and spending time playing with his children and grandchildren.

Kermit became afflicted with Alzheimer's and entered Trinity Nursing Home, March 1, 1999.

Survivors: Children, Larry (Ute) Gullickson, Germany, Judith Gail Gullickson, Minot, Richard Gullickson, Ruso, Susan (Orris) Brown, Minot, Pamela Gullickson and fiance, Gary Olson, Burlington, Jerald (Ginny) Gullickson, Lisa Sims and fiance Clint Cogdill, and Kathy (Ken) Schneibel, all of Minot; grandchildren, Jennifer Gullickson and her husband Dirk Mill, Timothy and Kevin Brown, Brandon and Brittany Gullickson, Andrew, Daniel and Aaron Sims, Clemens, Nathan and Katelyn Schneibel; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Chiara Mill; brother, Willis Gullickson, Minot, sister-in-law, Viola Gullickson, Max along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kermit was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn L.; his parents and brother, Elmo.

Prayer Service: Saturday, June 26, 10 a.m. at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot.

Funeral Service: Monday, June 28, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, Benedict, ND.

Visitation: Friday, June 25, 2004 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Benedict, ND.
