Rita Mary Guerdett 1937 - 2004 Rita Mary Guerdett, 67, rural Bowbells, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, in her home. Rita was born February 24, 1937, in Radville, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Joseph and Alma (Bourassa) Fillion. She was raised and educated in Radville, and worked at different jobs while attending school. On November 3, 1956, she married Gordon Guerdett. They made their home on the farm near Bowbells. On November 21, 1986, Rita obtained her United States citizenship, which she worked very hard for and was very proud of. She owned and operated an Amway business for several years. Rita was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bowbells, and the Altar Society of the church. Rita loved her children and grandchildren, and while raising her family often took them swimming to Northgate Dam or the Bowbells pool. She loved cooking, baking and canning, and made apple butter jam, caramel rolls, bread, and the best fried chicken, potato salad, barbeque beans and date bars, which the family enjoyed during their fishing trips. Rita also enjoyed square dancing, bowling, playing bingo and whist, crocheting, knitting and giving all her children haircuts. Her favorite musicians were Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley and she loved Traditional Catholic music. Survivors: Husband, Gordon, Bowbells; children, Barbara (Carl) Robbins, Minot, JoAnn (Travis) Detke, Youngsville, LA, Lisa (Duane) Hartel, Aurora, CO, Lori Guerdett, Slidell, LA, Raymond (Christina) Guerdett, Lawton, OK, and Deborah (Neil) Footh, Chinook, MT; 12 grandchildren, Heather, Jasmine, Misty, Kristin, Jordan, Joseph, Samuel, Joshua, Michelle, Michael, Casey and Jessica; one great-granddaughter, Audrey; brothers and sisters, Rose Larsen, Weyburn, SK, Gerard Fillion, Canada, Eva Taylor, Nanoose Bay BC, Marianne Wylie, Nanaimo, BC, John Fillion, Grand Cache, AB, Margaret Glassford, Ontario, Canada, and Ernest Fillion; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Rita was preceded in death by an infant daughter and an infant son; her parents; an infant brother, Joseph and brothers and sisters, Theresa Dyck, Elmyre Paulhus, David Fillion, and half-brother, Albert Fillion. Funeral: Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bowbells, ND. Visitation and vigil prayer service: Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bowbells, with the vigil service at 7:00 p.m., at the church.
