Olga Gryde 1911 - 2008 Olga was born on May 28, 1911, the daughter of Carl J and Sarah (Knutson) Gryde in Olivia Township, McHenry County, ND. She attended Elementary School in Olivia Township. She furthered her education attending Mayville State College, Minot State College, North Dakota State University, Colorado State University, and Fort Collins, Co. She received a BA degree from Minot State College in 1939. She was affiliated with Delta Kappa Gamma. Olga taught Home Economics and Social Studies in the following schools, Drake, Beulah, Velva, New Town, Jamestown, Grafton, Mandaree, ND. As well as Ada MN, and Miller, SD. During her teaching career she was also active in FHA and Key Womens Teachers. Olga retired in 1971, after 31 years of teaching. She was active in the Lutheran church Ladies Bible study, LDR, ALCW, taught Sunday school and Bible School. She was a member of the Business and Professional women, Sons of Norway, Minot Area Retired Teachers, Pioneer Daughters, Sew and So club, Valdres Samband, the Republican Women, Walsh County and McHenry County Historical Societies. Her education and studies meant lots of travel for Olga, and took her to 32 states, Canadian Provinces and 15 European Countries. Surviving relatives include: Many Cousins and friends. Visitation: Monday, March 31, 2008 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeal Home, Minot and on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from 1:00 until service time at the Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva Funeral Service: Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva Burial: Velva Community Cemetery, Velva, ND In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to donors choice.
