Darlene Grosz 1928 - 2010

Darlene Grosz PhotoDarlene Grosz, 81, Minot, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 in a Minot nursing home.

Darlene Stein was born on May 30, 1928, a daughter of Henry and Martha (Hoffer) Stein in the Lincoln Valley, ND. She was raised on the family farm near McClusky, ND and attended school at Lincoln Valley.

On October 13, 1946, she was united in marriage to Arthur Grosz in Lincoln Valley. They farmed in the McClusky area until 1955, when they moved to Minot. While in Minot, Darlene was a homemaker, raising the couple’s four sons, Arthur, Gary, Terry and Michael. Darlene worked various jobs, but enjoyed the years she provided daycare to local children.

Darlene enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known as Grandma hot pickles to some of the grandchildren, because of her pickles. Her favorite past time prior to her illness was going to and having garage sales. She would say she loved visiting with all the people.

She was a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Minot.

Surviving relatives:  Husband of 63 years, Arthur, Minot; sons: Arthur (Rose) Grosz, Casper, WY, Gary (Linda) Grosz, Terry (Karen) Grosz, Michael Grosz, all of Minot; fifteen grandchildren: twenty six great-grandchildren: brothers: Theobold (Heinie) Stein, McClusky, ND, Roger Stein, Napoleon, ND, Wesley Stein, McClusky, ND; sisters: Virginia Pollak, McClusky, ND, Pat Homann, Minot, Diane Hintz, Goodrich, ND.
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, brother Clarence Stein, sisters Loretta Meckle, Shirley Dockter, Marlene Murray and great-grandson Brady Lindquist.

Visitation: Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 2-7 at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service:  Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at 1 pm at St. Marks Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial:  Rosehill Memorial park, Minot
