Floyd J. Greenwood 1922 - 2002 Floyd J. Greenwood, 79, 905 8th Ave. NE, Minot, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in a Minot hospital. Floyd was born September 19, 1922, in Bottineau, ND, the son of Omer and Louise (Marchant) Greenwood. He was raised and educated there and assisted with the operation of the family farm during his younger years. He entered the United States Army Air Force in 1943, and served in central Burma. He was a pistol expert and heavy equipment operator while in the service, and was awarded the American Theater Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge. He was honorably discharged in March of 1946, and returned to North Dakota. He was employed in the Minot area at the North Dakota State Highway Department, and later at the Ward County Highway Department. He later was employed at Peter Kiewitt Construction and worked on the construction of the Minot Air Force Base. In 1983 he purchased Minot Cab, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1995. In 1947 he was united in marriage to Norma Clementich in Sidney, Montana. Floyd liked to do woodworking and was a self made carpenter. He was quite a handy man and made little wood cars and trucks for his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. He was a former member of the 49ers Union, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge, both Minot. Survivors: Wife, Norma, Minot; daughter, Cheryl Knutson, Minot; sons, Gary, Florence, CO, and Steven, Marysville, WA; grandchildren, Jerry (Bonnie) Thomas, Burlington, Todd Thomas, Fargo, Mandy and Dustin Slagle, Rangely, CO, Denise (John) Judant, New York City, NY, Jessica Knutson, and Wyatt Knutson, both Minot; great-grandchildren, Justin and Brianna Thomas, and Paige Thomas, all Minot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 brothers and sisters. Funeral: Friday, August 2, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Rosary Recitation: Friday, August 2, 2002, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Visitation: Thursday, (today), from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
