David Fredrick Gray 1946 - 2003

David Fredrick Gray, P.O. Box 103, Carpio, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in his home with his family at his side.

David was born March 7, 1946, to Harley M. and Lillian I. (Asbe) Gray, in Minot, ND. He was raised in Carpio, ND, and attended school there. He graduated from Carpio High School in 1964.

David joined the Army National Guard in 1964. He served his country for 20 years and retired with an honorable discharge in November of 1998. He married Linda Lee Bryans June 30, 1967 at the Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND. They made their home in Carpio for the past 36 years.

David started a career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1972. He worked at the Upper Souris National Wildlife Refuge, until he retired June 3, 2003 due to ill health, after 31 years of service.

He was a member of the Carpio Lutheran Church, the American Legion, Clarence McCormack Post 195, Donnybrook, ND. He was a former member of the Carpio Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Department. He served on the Carpio City Council for a number of years. David loved his family very much. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports.

David's loving and caring family who shared in his life are, Linda, his wife of 36 years, Carpio, ND; son, Glenn Harley (Janel Schmidt) Gray, Minot, ND; daughter, Leslie Lynn (John) Coughlin, Minot; one step granddaughter, Hope, Minot; sister, Debra (Steve) Vangsness, Minot; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lynn and Ruth Bryans, Carpio; sisters-in-law, Sandra Erickson, Minot, ND, and Susan (Harold) Charnetzki, Kenmare, ND: brother-in-law, Gary (Jean) Bryans, Minot; several nieces and nephews also survive. David was preceded in death by his parents, and two infant brothers.

Funeral: Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., at the Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the register, Monday, July 28, 2003, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: A private burial will take place at First Lutheran Cemetery, Carpio, ND.
