Pauline was the sixth of nine children of Timothy and Lucy (Morkert) Russell, born January 13, 1915, on a homestead farm in York Township, Benson County. Her father homesteaded in 1889, and her mother arrived at York Township in a covered wagon a few years later. In recognition of her pioneer roots, she received a Certificate of Recognition as a Daughter of the Pioneers from the North Dakota Centennial Commission.

Pauline graduated from York High School and then attended Union Commercial College in Grand Forks. After graduation, she was employed by the Northern Packing Company in Grand Forks, and later in the division offices of the Great Northern Railroad in Grand Forks.

Pauline married Truman Graves November 11, 1939. They lived in Grand Forks until 1944 when they moved to Minot, where she raised her five children. Her husband owned the Minot Typewriter Company. She was a charter member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Altar Society.

Her husband being an avid trapshooter, Pauline traveled to shoots throughout the State and, in the winter, Arizona, where she enjoyed visiting with her many friends. She also enjoyed fishing with her family and was an enthusiastic bird watcher. She had a special love of all children, whether her own or others.

Pauline will be greatly missed by her husband, Truman, Minot, ND; her daughter, Diane (Craig) Woloshyn, Brooksville, FL.; her sons, Dennis (Rosemary), San Francisco, CA; Jeffrey (Pauline), Cape Girardeau, MO; John, Grand Forks, ND; Rodney, St. Paul, MN; her brother, Raymond, Rugby, ND; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, and two grandchildren, Tracey and Timothy.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, July 19, 2007, at 11:00 A.M., at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Wednesday, July 18, 2007, from 3:00 to 7:30 P.M. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral, at the church.

Rosary: Wednesday at 7:30 PM, at the funeral home.
