Dale V. Goettle 1935 - 2011

Dale Goettle PhotoDale V. Goettle, 76, Donnybrook, died unexpectedly Monday, September 26, 2011 at his daughter’s home in Lansford, ND.

Dale Vernon Goettle was born on September 10, 1935, a son of Herb and Nora (Christensen) Goettle, on the family farm near Donnybrook ND. He was raised and educated in the Donnybrook area.

On October 21, 1953, Dale was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Limke at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Donnybrook. Following their marriage, they made their home on the Goettle farm, where they raised small grains, retiring in 2002.

Dale and Betty began going to Kooskia, Idaho in 1984 during the winter months. Early in their years there, Dale spent many hours chopping trees for their woodburning stove. Dale’s favorite thing to do was “bask in the sun,” while visiting with his children on the telephone.

Dale often referred to his shop as “The Big House” and you could often find him their tinkering on things. He was a great mechanic and enjoyed working with machines and tools.  He also loved to fish. Dale was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that touched many lives.

He is survived by: Wife of 58 years, Betty, Donnybrook, ND; children: Gayle (Tom) Lawson, Donnybrook, Dean Goettle, Judith Gap, MT, Terry (Terry) O’Clair, Bismarck, ND, Linda (companion Ray Berg) Lawson, Bismarck, Vickie Savelkoul, Lansford, Patty (Larry) Vincent, Lewiston, ID, Dawn Rae (Jason) Loughran, Kooskia, ID; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren: brother: Francis (JoAnn) Goettle, Donnybrook; sister: Dorothy King, Coulee, ND; mother-in-law: Dorathea Limke, Minot; Uncle John Goettle, Klamouth Falls, OR; Numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, son Mark, grandchildren Jason Loughran Jr. and baby girl Lawson, son-in-law Kenny, Savelkoul, brother George, sister Phyllis Lawson, father-in-law Charlie Limke and a brother-in-law Larry Limke.

Visitation:  Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 2 until 7 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 7 pm in Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Mass of Christian Burial:  Friday, September 30, 2011 at 11 am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Donnybrook, ND
