Gene A. Godejohn 1936- 2006 He was born on August 23, 1936, in Powers Lake, ND, the son of Harvey and Julia (Myre) Godejohn. He was reared and educated in Coteau, ND, and in 1954, he moved to Minot where he worked for Sterns Motors and Frosakers Chevrolet as an auto detailer. On June 18, 1956, Gene was united in marriage to Bettey Eckert in Bowbells, ND. The couple made their home in the Minot area, where they had three children, Robin, Patty, and Tracy. Gene worked for Auran Chevrolet, Greenberg Roofing, and Minot Laundry. Gene and Bettey were divorced on June 19, 1978. In the following years Gene traveled around the country performing various jobs including custom combining, roofing, and providing hospice care. Later in life, he moved back to Minot to retire and be closer to his family. A hobby Gene enjoyed when he was young was working on vehicles. Gene bought and sold many vehicles. This hobby eventually turned into a productive job at Auran Chevrolet selling vehicles. Gene earned several honors as a top salesman. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and going on vacations with his family. Gene possessed a quick wit and a great sense of humor. Gene had a natural ability to provide people and pets nicknames. He gave a nickname to every person, place, pet or thing that he was close to. Gene had the gift of gab. That is what made him such a great salesman. Gene always made friends wherever he went. He was very likable. We will cherish the memories, the times that we had, until we meet again, we love you Dad. Gene will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
