Brenda Glibota 1949 - 2011 Brenda was born on April 19, 1949, in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada (present day Thunderbay) to Eila (Salo) and Allan Nurminen. Brenda and her family moved to Duluth, MN in 1965. There she attended Duluth Denfeld High School and the University of Minnesota, Duluth, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Brenda ultimately got her Master’s Degree from Minot State University. Brenda married her high school sweetheart, John Glibota, on December 20, 1969. After John’s tour in Vietnam with the United States Air Force the couple was stationed at Minot Air Force Base. Brenda accepted a position with the Minot Public Schools System in 1970. She taught in the system until the time of her death, teaching at North Plains at the Minot Air Force Base for ten years and currently was a second grade teacher at Perkett Elementary at the time of her death. The love of her life was her family, John, and two daughters Michele and Tracy. Both daughters blessed Brenda with two beautiful granddaughters. The four grandchildren, Taylor, Brekka, Bria and Amaiya became Brenda’s pride and joy, spending many hours with them. Brenda loved to read, loved cats and loved her chosen profession of teaching. After teaching in the Minot Public School System for over 40 years, Brenda was going to retire at the end of this school year. She will be sadly missed by past and present students and educators alike. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived ye her loving husband of 41 years, John; daughters, Michele Blessum (Kent) and Tracy Abrams (Kemuel) all of Minot; four beautiful granddaughters; brother, Roy Nurminen (Peggy) of Island Lake, MN; cousins, Barb Otava (John) of Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada and Debbie Salo, of Egan, MN. Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, people may sign a guest register book on Thursday, February 24, 2011 from 3-5 at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot Memorial Service: Friday, February 25, 2011 at 10 am at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Minot Burial: A private family burial will take place.
