Ella Margret Giese 1920 - 2004

Ella Margret Giese, 84, Minot, died Saturday, November 20, 2004, in a Minot nursing home.

Ella was born January 25, 1920, in Hustisford, Wisconsin, the daughter of Fred and Martha (Braemer) Gerth. She was raised and educated in that area and graduated from Hustisford High School. Ella worked for a family in Watertown, WI, and also at Cutler-Hammer in Milwaukee, WI.

On July 6, 1946, Ella married Ferdinand "Ferdy" Giese, in Max, ND. Following their marriage they raised their family, farmed and also raised dairy cattle in the Max area. In 1988 they retired and moved to Minot. Ferdinand died April 17, 2000. In 2001, Ella entered Trinity Homes in Minot.

Ella was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Max, and Christ Lutheran Church in Minot. She was active in the homemakers and ladies aid in both Max and Minot. Ella loved family get-togethers and enjoyed cooking for everyone. She loved her grandchildren and would often make them their favorite dishes when they stopped to visit.

Survivors: Daughters, Sharon (Jim) LaPlante, Chinook, MT, and Sandra (Dave) Wittliff, Minot; sons, Marvin (Lauri) Giese, Watford City, and Dean Giese, Minot; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Joe, Mike, Eric, Mike and Wil; six great-grandchildren, Christina, April, Scott, Staci, Matthew and Michael; and two great-great grandchildren, KayLee and Joshua; sisters, Nina Hannegen and Evelyn Qualman; brothers, Fred and Gene Gerth; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Ferdinand "Ferdy" Giese, her parents, Fred and Martha Gerth; sister, Lucille Reynolds and brother, Lyle Gerth.

Funeral: Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday, November 23, 2004, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.
