Richard W. George 1934 - 2006

Richard W. George, 71, Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Minot, ND, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006, in the Warroad Care Center, Warroad, MN.

Richard Wayne George was born on November 5, 1934, the son of Raymond and Emma (Pounds) George in Mohall, ND. He was raised and educated in Mohall.

Richard married Diane Lemke on November 6, 1956, in Minot, ND. They made their home in Minot, where Richard was employed by Fargo Glass and Paint. He worked there until 1977, when they moved to Williston and he owned and operated Basin Glass, a business he started on his own. He also owned and operated Turtle Mountain Glass in Bottineau, ND. They then moved to Grand Forks, ND, where he was employed by Fritz Construction. He retired in 2001. Diane passed away on April 30, 2002.

His passions in life were working and building things for his children, Terry and Pattie. Family was very important to him, especially his grandchildren as he would enjoy watching Trevor and Michael play hockey, hunting and fishing with Travis, and his spending time with his newest grandson, Tanner. He also enjoyed watching and cheering for the Fighting Sioux Hockey team.

He was a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Minot.

Surviving family includes: son, Terry (Teri Rae) George, Roseau, MN; daughter, Pattie (Rodney) Kiemele, Warroad, MN; grandchildren, Travis George, Michael Kiemele, Trevor George, and Tanner George; sisters, June (Jim) Baker and Judy (Pete) Mobley, all of Minot, and Louise Hammer, Compton, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane; daughters, Kimberley and Renae; sons, Michael, Richard Dale, and Jonathon; and brothers, Ernie and Robert George.

Funeral: Friday, September 22, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
