Marlin L. "M.L."
Gay 1928 - 2002 Marlin L. "M.L." Gay, 73, 17 10th Ave. NE, Minot, died Friday, May 10, 2002, in a Minot hospital. Marlin was born August 23, 1928 in Minot, ND, the son of Walter and Fannie (Engesli) Gay. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School. He entered the United States Navy in 1945 and served on the U.S.S. Bremerton, and was stationed in Japan, China and Guam. He was honorably discharged in 1947 and returned to North Dakota. M.L. worked for the Great Northern Railway for a time. On March 1, 1949, he helped charter the Wood, Wire and Metal Lathers International Union Local 519. He worked construction as a metal lather in numerous states and with various contractors until his retirement in the fall of 1991. He married Martha Meyer on April 12, 1950, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot. M.L. was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the William G. Carroll Post #26, Minot, ND, where he served as Junior Vice Commander and in 1978 served as Grand Chef De Gare for the 40 et 8 Club, a club in which he was very active. He had also served as president for the World War II Last Man's Club. M.L. and his wife traveled to the U.S.S Bremerton reunions in various states. After their retirement they spent the winter months in Holiday, FL. Survivors: Wife, Martha, Minot; sons, Michael (Sandie Tanzillo-Gay), Hudson, N.Y., Tom (Kathryn) Gay, Fargo; daughter, Chris (Dr. Byron) Blowers, Bismarck; four grandchildren, Blake Blowers and fiancée, Andrea Nagel, Marisa (Tyler) Auck, Rachael Gay and Sam Gay; brother, Jim (Judy) Gay, Round Up, MT; numerous nieces and nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Einar, Otis, Maurice and Robert Gay. Funeral: Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at 1:00 p.m.., at St.
