Albert W. Gaydos 1928 - 2003

Albert W. Gaydos, 75, Minot, died Friday in a Minot nursing home.

He was born October 14, 1928, in West Homestead, PA, to William and Mary (Seckel) Gaydos. He was reared and educated in West Homestead and graduated from high school there. In July of 1947, he entered into active duty service with the Army Air Corps, which later became the United States Air Force. He proudly served his county for thirty years, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant in July of 1977. He was stationed at various Air Force Bases throughout his time of service, including Biloxi, MS, Rapid City, SD (Ellsworth AFB), Guam, March AFB, CA, Dover, DE, Japan, McChord, WA, Ubon and Udorn, Thailand during the Vietnam Conflict and the Minot Air Force Base.

He married Bernice B. Burwick of Mott, North Dakota on August 31, 1950 in Rapid City, SD. His hobbies included archery, hunting, fishing, fly tying, and making custom fishing rods.

Survivors: wife, Bernice, Minot; son, Allen and wife Vickie, Jefferson, Missouri; daughter, Julie and husband Clifford Morgan, Bloomingdale, GA; grandchildren, Shannon A. Gaydos, Bryan M. Gaydos, Emily Thornton and Micah N. Thornton; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Gaydos, Alex Gaydos, London Gaydos and Julien G. Thornton; brother, John Gaydos, West Homestead, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorial Service: Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at North Hill Baptist Church, Minot.

Friends may sign a register on Monday from noon until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
