Edward J. Ganje 1930 - 2006

Edward J. Ganje, 76, Roseville, CA, formerly of Karlsruhe, ND, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2006, in his home.

Edward Joseph Ganje was born on June 12, 1930, in Karlsruhe, North Dakota, the son of Conrad and Regina (Beochler) Ganje. Eddy was the youngest of nine children. As a young adult, he worked on the family ranch.

He enlisted in the United States Army on November 21, 1951, and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on October 7, 1953, but remained in the reserves until 1960.

He moved to Renton, Washington, and married Betty Jean Bokovoy of Max, North Dakota. They moved to Oakland, CA, in 1956, and had a daughter, Debra, who resides in Mesa, AZ. He worked at Matson Shipping Lines for thirty-five years. Upon retiring, they moved to Roseville, CA.

His passion growing up was his beloved Arabian horse, Smokey. Dad was the smartest man I've ever known. He could fix, build or invent anything to get the job done. And he was always there when you needed his help. He will be remembered with much love from his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; Roseville, CA; daughter Debra Ganje, Mesa, AZ; brothers, Phillip Ganje, San Leandro, CA; and Conrad Ganje, Turlock, CA; sister, Bertha Bodine; Springfield, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Matt, George, Carl, John, and Mike Ganje; and sister, Veronica Ganje.
