Lydia Frey 1918 - 2006

Lydia Frey, 87, Minot, died Thursday, November 16, 2006 in a Minot nursing home.

Lydia was born on December 13, 1918, the daughter of Jacob and Carolina (Stauss) Frey on the family farm, west of Glenburn, ND. Her mother died when Lydia was six years old. She then moved with her family to south of Martin, ND, where she graduated the eighth grade from Pioneer School District #1.

She worked for various families, helping care for children and other household duties. Lydia also assisted with beet harvest in Grand Forks area. She worked for Minot Steam Laundry for 33 years, before retiring.

Lydia enjoyed spending time with family, especially the children or little people as she referred to them. She enjoyed poetry, birds, decorating for the seasons, crocheting, sewing and gospel music.

She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which is currently the Faith United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school to the children.

She is survived by: sisters-in-law Esther Frey and Rose Frey, both of Harvey, ND. numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by, her parents, step mother Eva and brothers, Jake, John, Adolph, Walter, Albert, and sister Regina Frey.

Visitation: Monday, November 20, 2006 from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Funeral Service: Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church, Minot

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
