Donna Fredrickson • 1932- 2006 Donna was born on October 10, 1932, the daughter of Harold and Lida (Brown) Holmes, in Kenmare, ND. She was reared and educated in Kenmare. As a young lady, she worked as a waitress, where she met her future husband. On March 31, 1948, she was united in marriage to Floyd J. Fredrickson at her grandmother's home in Kenmare, ND. The couple farmed in Thorson Township, where they raised their three children. In 2000, they moved to Powers Lake. Floyd died April 23, 2005. She was a very giving person, always willing to help with anything asked of her. She was very active in the community and devoted her time to many different organizations and projects. Donna enjoyed music, gardening, cooking, cross-word puzzles, needlepoint, painting, whist parties and a good game of hand and foot with her friends. She held various jobs cooking, most recently at the Powers Lake Senior Citizens, where she was the site manager for 10 and a half years, and served as president. Donna was a member of the Scandia Lutheran Church, the church's women's group, and secretary of the congregation. She taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was active in the Scandia and Holy Cross ladies aid, Powers Lake Senior Citizens, Powers Lake food pantry, Burke County Historical Society, Burke County Council on Aging, VFW and American Legion, all of Powers Lake. She is survived by: Daughter: Betty ( Louis) Fredrickson, Regina Sask; sons: Terry (Linda) Fredrickson, Powers Lake, ND; Benny (Renae) Fredrickson, Powers Lake, ND; mother: Lida Schmidtke, Kenmare, ND; grandchildren: Jamey (Sara) Fredrickson, Nick (Teddi) Fredrickson, Scott Fredrickson, Heather (Spencer) Dyck, Cheryl (Tim) Fredrickson, Mikayla Fredrickson, Kendra Fredrickson; great-grandchildren: Shaina Fredrickson, Jessica Dyck, Ashton Dyck, Noah Fredrickson and Savanna Fredrickson; sisters, June McPherson, MN; Diane (Ken) Chapman, Kenmare, ND; Bonnie Holmes, ID and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, father Harold, step father Lyle Schmidtke and daughter-in-law, Claudia J. Fredrickson. Funeral Service: Saturday, June 17, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., at Scandia Lutheran Church, rural Battleview, ND.
