Jarold H. Fraser 1920 - 2002
Jarold H. Fraser, 82, Fargo, ND, formerly of Minot, died Thursday,
December 19, 2002, at a Fargo Nursing Home.
Jarold was born to John H. and Irene (Nine) Fraser on August
12, 1920 in Westhope, ND, where he grew up and attended school.
He graduated from Westhope High School in 1938 and attended Wahpeton
School of Science. He attended and was confirmed in the Westhope
Presbyterian Church. He later attended church at Trinity Lutheran,
Drake ND. He married Jeanne Wan Leiu in Westhope, ND. They had
6 children.
Jarold became a cattle buyer as a young man and became one of
the best in his profession. He owned and operated Fraser Livestock
Auction at Harvey, ND from 1956 to 1962. He continued to buy
cattle for various out of state livestock auctions and local
farmers and ranchers.
In September 1966 he married Katherine Walz Olson. They lived
in Harvey for several years and in 1976 moved to Minot, ND. Jarold
retired in 1997 after 59 years in the cattle business. Jarold
was a lifetime member of Minot Elks Lodge and a member of the
Harvey Eagles Club. He loved going fishing and hunting with his
son-in-law Ron Lindblad and had many good fish stories to tell.
Jarold loved his family, including the little Great Grandchildren.
In August 2001 they moved to Fargo, ND to be near family.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine ; four daughters,
Nancy Fraser, Merced, CA, Judy Fraser, Salinas, CA, Geraldine
(Rainer) Soehnen , Merced, CA, Nikki Fraser , Idaho Falls, Idaho;
one son Gregory, Salinas, CA; 11 grandchildren and six great
grandchildren; daughter-in-law Sandy, Osh Gosh, WI; One step-daughter
Yvonne (Ronald) Lindblad, Fargo, ND. One brother, Donald (Mary)
Fraser, Westhope, ND; Three sisters, Lucille Henderson, Porterville,
Calif; Ruth ( Gilbert) Sivertson, Westhope, ND; Dorothy (Duane)
Skinn, Billings, Mont; ;and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded
in death by a son Jonathon, his parents, stepson Robert and one
sister, Katherine.
Funeral Service: Monday, December 23, 2002, at 11 .am.
at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday, December 22, 2002 from noon until
5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Officiant: Rev. Luther Hanson, chaplain of Trinity Homes
in Minot
