Ronald Joseph Formanek was born on September 15, 1935, the son of James G. and Anna (Leseinski) in Newburgh Heights, Ohio. He graduated from a Cleveland trade school before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He enlisted on November 3, 1953. He proudly served his country as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorable discharged on October 16, 1957. Ronald was once married to Annette Marie Kerch. They were married on June 20, 1959, in Cleveland, OH. Together, they had one son, James. Ron began working at American Can in 1957. He worked there until medical reasons forced him to retire in 1993. He had continued to reside in Wickliffe, OH, until moving to Minot, ND, to live with his son and his family. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. Surviving family includes: son, James E. Formanek and his wife, Barbara, Minot Air Force Base, ND; four granddaughters, Ashley, Brittany, Jamie, and Samantha Formanek; former wife, Annette Molesky, Bonaire, GA; brother, James Formanek and his wife, Gaye, Mobile, AL; sister, Margaret Mitchelle, Brooklyn, OH; brother-in-law, Norbert (Margaret) Kerch, Mentor, OH; sister-in-law, Marie (Jack) O'Connell, Painsville, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
