Loretta Marie Forbes 1909 - 2005

Loretta Marie Forbes, 82, Minot, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, in a Minot nursing home.

She was born on November 9, 1922, in Lansford, ND, the daughter of Bill and Margaret (Walker) Davis. She was reared and educated in Lansford and later attended beauty school in Bismarck

She married Robert "Pete" Forbes on September 25, 1945, in Wolfe Point, MT. Loretta started the Newburg Nite Riders and she taught Sunday school. She owned and operated the Tioga Tastee Freeze, the Guys and Dolls Beauty Shop in Bottineau and later the Newburg Café. She was also co-owner of the Kramer Bar.

Loretta loved to crochet and knit. Through out her life she knitted numerous Afghans for family and friends. She enjoyed playing the piano and guitar.

She was a member of the Dovre Lutheran Church, Newburg, ND, the North Dakota Horse Show Association and the Newburg Nite Riders.

Survivors: husband of 59 years Robert "Pete", Minot; sons, Danny Forbes, Minot, and Kellen (Kathy) Forbes, Velva; daughter, Sherry Shafer, Seattle, WA; four grandchildren, Candace Abernathey, Donevan Mortenson Jr., Shane Forbes, and Kelly Jo (Kelly R.) Eaton; five great-grandchildren, Carl, Chad, and Andrea Abernathey, Miranda Mortenson and Kaden Joseph Eaton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two infant twin boys, her parents, brothers, Ernie, Alex, Hugh, and Willie McLeod; and sister, Helen Renz.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at 1 p.m. a.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Visitation: Monday, March 28, 2005, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
