Ethel Fontaine 1909 - 2005

Ethel Fontaine, 95, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, in a Minot nursing home.

Ethel Brininger was born June 8, 1909, the daughter of Henry and Sena (Torberson) Brininger, in Somers, MT. She moved with her family to Warwick, ND as a young girl, and attended country school in the area.

On March 25, 1929, Ethel married Earl Fontaine in Lakota. ND. They made their home on a farm in the Petersburg-Dahlen area, farming there for over 40 years. In 1955, they moved to Dahlen, where she worked at the Dahlen store. They then purchased the Dahlen Café, which they owned and operated for 11 years. They also purchased cream for creameries for a time. Earl passed away in 1970.

In 1971, Ethel moved to Minot to be closer to her family. She worked as a caregiver in Minot. She was an avid baker and cook, enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Ethel entered ManorCare Health Services in 1993, where she resided at the time of her death.

Ethel was a member of the Dahlen Lutheran Church and First Baptist Church, Minot.

She is survived by five generations of family: Daughters: Yvonne (Leroy) Bursau, Minot: Doris Roberts, Kalispell, MT; 23 grandchildren, four of whom reside in Minot: Roger (Cheryl) Jehlicka, Terry (Lynn) Jehlicka, Deb ( David) Scwede, and Janell (Dr. Jeffrey) Verhey;numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren also survive. Sisters: Leona Simons Barnart, Kalispell, MT: Doris Isaacs, Kalispell. MT

Ethel was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, Earl, son, Donald Fontaine, daughter, Delores Pound, brother, Ralph Brininger, sisters, Marie Fuson and Lottie Brininger

Funeral Service: Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dahlen Lutheran Church, Dahlen, ND

Visitation and prayer service: Wednesday, April 13, 2005 from noon until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 at the Thompson Larson Funeral Home with Chaplain Curt Hanson~Trinity Health

Burial: Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Dahlen, ND
