Tony Foltyn 1925 - 2010 Tony Foltyn was born August 27, 1925 the son of Mary and Anton Foltyn in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Sheldon, Wisconsin. Tony had to learn to speak English as he started school, as his only language was Czech. Tony helped with snow removal in North Dakota in 1948-1949, at this time he met Elaine Mattern. They were united in marriage June 10, 1951 in Mohall, ND. Tony had begun a career driving truck for Bridgeman Creamery out of Minot and then out of Williston from October to June of 1953. Tony couldn’t seem to get cows out of his life so in 1954 they moved to a farm by Mohall and raised chickens and milk cows; he also entered into crop farming there until 1981. Tony loved farming. In addition to farming, he began working for SRT. In 1960, they moved to Westhope, ND. Tony retired from SRT in December 1989. He worked 32 years for SRT. They continued to live in Westhope till November 1993 when they moved to Minot, North Dakota. His wife Elaine still resides there. Some of Tony’s favorite hobbies included dancing, playing cards, camping, hunting, water skiing, riding horse, snowmobiling, three wheeling, accordion, and of course- telling jokes. Needless to say his kids grew up with lots of hobbies to do. Tony was a member of the Bread of Life Lutheran Church. Those who shared in his life: Wife of 58 years Elaine, daughter Caroline (Dennis) Peppel of Borup MN, twin sons: Lonnie Foltyn of Chester VA, Layton (Debbie) Foltyn of Minot, ND. Brother: Stanley (Marion) Foltyn, Glen Flora, WI, half brother: Rudy Kubic of Woodland, TX, son in law, Dan Haakenson Bismarck, ND; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother and two half brothers. Visitation: Friday, February 12, 2010, one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: Friday, February 12, 2010, 11 am at the Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot Officiant: Rev.
