Clara Floyd • 1933 - 2006

Clara Floyd, 72, 1008 34th Ave. SW, Minot, ND, formerly of the Antler, ND, area, died Friday, March 24, 2006, in a Minot hospital.

Clara Amelia Jespersen was born on December 2, 1933, the daughter of Muller and Elsie (Seiffert) Jespersen on the family farm which was located in Wayne Township of Bottineau County, near Kuroki, ND. She attended grade school at Kuroki and graduated from Westhope High School in 1951.

Clara married Virgil Floyd on October 9, 1952, at her parents' home. They made their home on a farm located west of Antler, ND, and farmed there for 43 years. They retired from farming in 1995, and moved to NW Minot. In 2004, they moved to the SW part of town and have resided there since.

Clara enjoyed her country life of working along side her husband, in her garden and flower beds. She continued her love of the outdoors here in town. Clara had a heart of gold and her first love was her family. Her door was always open for her neighbors and many friends.

Clara and Virgil traveled throughout the lower 48 states, Canada, Alaska, and over to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. They wintered in Arizona for six winters and a few years in Texas.

She was a member of Borderline Homemakers Club for almost 50 years, and a member of the Antler Community Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Antler Senior Citizens Club. She attended the Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Minot.

Surviving family includes: husband of over 53 years, Virgil, Minot; daughters, Alice (Daniel) Kruckenberg, Minot; four stepgrandchildren, Tina and Danny, Jennifer (Eric) and Michelle; one stepgreat-granddaughter, Katie; brother, Merton (Ethel) Jespersen, Minot, Bert (Luella) Jespersen, Antler, sister-in-law, Hazel (Percy) Kirby, Mohall; brother-in-law, Donald (Jan) Floyd, Belmont, CA, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons, Richard and Wayne; mother-in-law and father-in-law; one sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.

Funeral: Thursday, March 30, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Free Lutheran Church, 530 22nd Ave. NW, Minot.

Interment at a later date at the Antler Cemetery, Antler, ND.

There will be no reviewal but friends may sign the register book on Wednesday from Noon to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society or to an organization of the donor's choice.
