Dr. Jonathan R. Florence,
DDS • 1966 - 2008 Jonathan was born December 1, 1966 in Minot, ND, the son of Gerald and Geraldine (Heggerston) Florence. Jon was raised and educated in Velva, where he was active in all Aggie sports. He was also active in Boy Scouts where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Velva High School in 1985. Jon attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where he majored in biology and chemistry. He played football at Concordia and was team captain and most valuable player his senior year. He graduated from Concordia with honors and then attended the University of Minnesota Dental School where he graduated with a degree in Dentistry in 1994. Jon married Kristin Lund on September 24, 1994. They moved to Velva where he purchased his father's dental practice. They later moved to rural Sawyer, but he continued to own and operate the dental practice in Velva until his death. Jon loved his wife and three beautiful children, Bryce (10), Greta (8), and Gage (5). He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping and just being outdoors with his family. He had a great respect and appreciation for wildlife and the outdoors. He was very knowledgeable and loved to learn. He and his family attended Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva. Those who shared in his life, Wife, Kristin, Sawyer; children, Bryce, Greta and Gage; his parents, Dr. Gerald and Geraldine Florence, Velva; sisters, Julaine Florence, St. Louis, MO, Kari Ann (Paul) Dunderland, Bottineau, ND, Mary Lynn (Mark) Berntson, Grand Forks, ND and Sara Jane Anderson, Beaver Dam, WI; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Doris Lund, Minneapolis, MN, sister-in-law, Margit Lund and her partner, Liann Johnson, Minneapolis, MN; brother-in-law, Jim (Susan) Lund, Columbia, SC; numeorous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins survive. Memorial Service: Friday, January 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, ND. Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the guest register Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Jonathan Florence's children's educational fund and may be sent in care of Peoples State Bank of Velva, P.O.
