Dorothy M. Fjeld • 1931 - 2008
Dorothy M. Fjeld, 77, Minot, ND, formerly of Scobey and Kalispell, MT, died Monday, December 22, 2008 in a Minot nursing home. Dorothy Margaret Lee was born April 9, 1931 in Newburg, ND, the daughter of Rudolph and Laura (Tronson) Lee. She was raised in Glenburn and graduated from Glenburn High School in 1948. She attended Minot State Teacher's College and graduated in 1950 with a Standard Teaching Certificate. She taught two years in Scobey, MT. Dorothy married Ron Fjeld in 1952 and they moved to Albuquerque, NM, while Ron was in the United States Air Force. They moved back to Scobey where they taught school. In 1961 they opened Fjeld's Clothing Store in Scobey which they owned and operated for 14 years. They moved to Bigfork, MT and built a home at Flathead Lake. While at Flathead Lake Dorothy and Ron hand planted a cherry orchard. Dorothy and Ron were sales representatives for the Vernon Company for numerous years, selling specialty products. They moved to Kalispell, MT, where they lived for 30 years and moved to Minot in May of this year to be closer to family and friends. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Bigfork, MT and the Scobey Jaycees. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved baking, canning, crocheting and knitting. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. Those who shared in her life, Husband of 56 years, Ron, Minot; children, Charolette Jones, Cody, WY, Greg (Nancy) Fjeld, Minot and Scott (Karen) Fjeld, Twin Falls, ID; five grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Kostelecky, Brandon Fjeld, Whitney (Nate) Thomas, Carly Fjeld and Katelyn Fjeld; one great-grandson, Keaton Thomas; sister, Eunice (Vern) Langhans, Minot; brother, Myles Lee, Glenburn, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Joyce Lee. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND Her funeral will be Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, ND. Visitation will be Friday, December 26, 2008 from noon to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Officiating Clergy: Rev. David Maxfield and Rev. Mike Johnson Music: CD Selections Honorary Bearers: Dorothy's great-grandson, Keaton Thomas Active Bearers: Dorothy's grandchildren Following the funeral everyone is invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship in the lower level of the church. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to step to your vehicles by 12:30. We will be leaving the east parking lot in procession. Please drive with both headlights and hazard lights on, following the car in front as close as safety permits. Use caution when crossing intersections. At the cemetery please double park, then follow the family to the graveside for the final prayers. Dorothy's family would like to thank everyone for the many
