George J. Fix • 1921 - 2006 George J. Fix, 84, 605 13th Ave. SW, Minot, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 in a Minot hospital. George was born July 27, 1921 on the family farm northwest of Selz, ND, the son of Joseph and Magdalena (Reddler) Fix. He worked on the family farm raising sheep and attended country school in the Selz area. On October 25, 1954 George married Helen Ripplinger at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. Following their marriage they made there home east of Harvey, where together they raised their family and farmed. They farmed until 1997, when ill health forced them to move to Minot. George was a steward of the land his entire life, and nothing much exceeded this. He was content with his modest lifestyle. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey, and while living in Minot was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Survivors: Wife, Helen, Minot; daughters, Irene (John) Pitner, Minot, Frances (Kevin) Mayer, Casselton, and Philomena (Al) Koapke, Surrey; 15 grandchildren, John (Heather) Pitner, Angela, Jennifer (Mark) Jundt, Matthew, David, Paul, Maria, Christopher, Anthony and Sarah Pitner, Brittany and Brooke Mayer, and Eric, Bobbi Jo and Krista Peters; two great-grandchildren, Lane and Lance Pitner; sister, Leona Lawver, Seattle, WA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. George was preceded in death by his son, George Fix, Jr.; his parents; Infant brother, Leo; brothers, Joseph, Leonard and Clarence Fix; infant sisters, Philomena and Annie, and sister, Irene Schmaltz. Funeral: Monday, March 20, 2006 at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Visitation and vigil prayer service: Visitation Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, with the vigil prayer service Sunday at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Burial: Monday at 3:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery, Harvey, ND.
