Lila M. Fisk 1936 - 2009

Lila M. Fisk PhotoLila M. Fisk, 73, Minot, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, in a Minot nursing home.

Lila was born Sept. 30, 1936 in Columbus, NE, to Herman and Anna (Welch) Levos. She was raised and educated in Columbus where she graduated from high school in 1954.

She married Gordon Fisk on August 22, 1959 in Denver, CO. The marriage was blessed with two children—eldest son Michael and daughter Linda. They traveled to Europe and back with Gordon, who was enlisted in the United States Air Force. Lila volunteered with the Red Cross for a number of years, eventually becoming a dental assistant. She worked for Minot dentist, Dr. Dean Boyle, with her good friend Babs Machenheimer until retiring in 1990.

Although retired, Lila was always busy. She spent much of her time caring for her animals and finding ways to donate to the Humane Society. Her favorite times, though, came from her two beloved grandchildren, Justin and Aaron, and all of her extended grandkids—to whom she was simply, “Grandma Fisk.” She rarely missed one of the boys’ sporting events and could often be seen, with camera in hand, chronicling their motorcycle races, hockey games, and school activities.

Lila was a devoted mother and grandmother, whose kind and giving demeanor will be forever missed by her loved ones and all those whom she touched.

Surviving family includes: Son, Michael and daughter-in-law Sara (Fettig), Minot; Grandsons Justin and Aaron, Minot; Daughter, Linda Fisk, Clearwater, FL; Lila’s former husband, Gordon, Brooksville, FL.
