Esma "Ez" Finke 1913 - 2004

Esma "Ez" Finke, 91, Minot, died Monday, October 25, 2004, at a Minot hospital.

She was born on July 27, 1913, in Creary, ND, the daughter of Patrick Henry and Laura (Klinger) McGurren. She moved with her parents to New Rockford, Williston and then Minot where she graduated from Minot High School in 1931. She was employed at Woolworth's and later for Kresge's Dime Store.

She was united in marriage to Gordon Finke on January 22, 1936, at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. The couple lived in Minot for a short time before Gordon enlisted in the United States Navy where Ez worked at Shadle Park Pharmacy in Spokane, WA. In 1958, the couple returned to North Dakota. Gordon died on December 3, 1991, and Esma continued to live in Minot.

Ez was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, the Elkettes, Minot Homemakers and Bridge Club.

Survivors: sons, Jerry (Joan), Nome, AK, and Kenneth (Jill), Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Robert, Tara and Brenda; great-grandchildren, Charise, Shawnna, and Zachary; sister, Stella Page and her daughter, Renee, Elkhart, IN; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Martin, Walla Walla, WA, and Carol Pyne, Auburn, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, her parents, and brother Kenneth McGurren.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, October 30, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Visitation: Friday, October 29, 2004, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Rosary Recitation: Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
