Evelyn Frances Fiedler
1932 - 2004 Evelyn Frances Fiedler, 71, Knoxville, MD, formerly of Minot, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at a Minot hospital. Evelyn was born on October 16, 1932, in Watford City, ND, the daughter of Pete and Anna (Sanko) Dassenko. She resided with her parents near Grassy Butte, ND, where she attended local school. In 1948, Evelyn moved with her family to Minot and graduated from Minot Senior High School in 1950. Upon completing her high school education, she went to work for North Dakota Western Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. On June 14, 1953, she married George Rovenko. The couple lived and farmed in the Max, ND area. George died on January 27, 1955. Following his death, Evelyn moved back to Minot, to live by her parents. Shortly after moving to Minot, Evelyn moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked as a telephone operator for two years and then returned to Minot. Upon her return to Minot Evelyn attended Minot State College and began work as a receptionist for the Minot Air Force Base Hospital. In December of 1966, she married Lloyd Fiedler and the couple made their home near Butte, ND, until 1973, when they returned to Minot with their daughter Amy. Evelyn returned to work at the Minot Air Force Base Hospital and later transferred to the Minot Air Force Base Commissary, where she worked until retiring in October of 1994. In August of 2003, Evelyn and Lloyd moved to Knoxville, to live by their daughter and her family. Evelyn was a member of First Lutheran Church, Minot, and was an active member of the church circle. She was also a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Brunswick, MD. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, listening to Lloyd's music, and gardening outdoors. Survivors: husband, Lloyd, Knoxville, MD; daughter, Amy (Terry) Anderson, Knoxville, MD; grandchildren, Alexandra, Jeramey and Tristan all of Knoxville, MD; sisters, Christine (Gordon) Strilcov, Missoula, MT, Florence (Dale) Breding, Albuquerque, NM; brother, Pete (Shirley) Dassenko, Minot; sister-in-law, Marlene Knodel, Minot and Videlle Guyse, Kennedale, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Anna Dassenko and her first husband, George. Funeral Service: Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at 11 a.m.
