Hazel Marcella (Lumley)
Feldman 1912 - 2005 Hazel Marcella (Lumley) Feldman, 92, Kenmare, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in a Minot adult foster care home. Hazel was born September 15, 1912. She was the eldest daughter of Robert and Rosa (McLaughlin) Lumley. She was born on a farm 8 miles west of Coulee in Crowfoot Township, which her parents homesteaded. She attended Crowfoot Township country school and Kenmare High School. She graduated in 1931. Hazel taught at a country school west of Kenmare and later worked at the Red and White Grocery when her parents moved into Kenmare. She married Vernon E. Feldman on April 4, 1946. They farmed on the Feldmann homestead, which is located in Greenbush Township, Ward County, about 8 miles SE of Kenmare. They moved into Kenmare in 1983 and Vernon passed away in 1989. Hazel's interests were gardening, playing bingo, playing cards, traveling, doing word puzzles, watching Jeopardy (every day), doing cross-stitch and embroidery and helping out at the senior citizens center in Kenmare. She lived independently until shortly after her 90th birthday, when a broken hip resulted in her moving into assisted living. She moved into Semmen's Assisted Living in Minot in January, 2003. Hazel was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Senior Citizens and the Farmers Union, all in Kenmare. Survivors: Daughter, Vernese Lathrop, Little Canada, MN; son, Lee (Ellen) Feldmann, Minot; grandson, Paul Feldmann and granddaughter, Emily Feldmann, all of Minot; sister-in-law, Alma Lumley, Stanley, ND; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Robert Lumley; sisters, Bernice Pyan and Charlotte Lumley; son-in-law, Miland "Bud" Lathrop. Funeral: Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND. Visitation: Friday, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, ND. Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND in the spring. MEMORIALS ARE PREFERED TO KENMARE SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER OR NAZARETH LUTHERAN CHURCH, BOTH IN KENMARE.
